The diversity of thought is often over-looked and under-valued in the Inclusion Equation. Using the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) we will explore the value and impact of all thinking styles — critical to the success of teams and organizations. The HBDI model and database will be used to develop inclusion strategies and tactics. Thinking styles will be woven into the remaining sessions, as we did with Emotional Intelligence during the 2009 Series.

Social networks are emerging everywhere as a means of communicating, learning and connecting. These networks and their impact have enormous implications for individuals and organizations. In this session, we will experience and explore who’s “In” and who’s “Out” — and the link between social networks and thinking styles. We will also investigate tools used to capture the value of social networks.

Are inclusion and personal accountability mutually exclusive? No. Personal accountability is actually a cornerstone of inclusion. In this session, participants will have the opportunity to discover how their thinking styles shape their inclusion actions and choices. We will examine and experience models and tools to increase personal accountability and which can help build a more inclusive work environment.

Changing Economics: Down-Shifting Class Status and the Impact on Inclusion

Recent economic changes have forced many people into new, lower, class status. Shifts in class are having an impact on buying habits, work philosophies and value systems. In this session, we will examine changes in individual and family class and the experience of many who moved from included to excluded when their class status shifted. We will also explore how to use thinking styles to enhance flexibility needed in this rapidly changing economic environment.

Work / life efforts have become an increasingly important part of organizational landscapes. Frequently, though, these efforts have been perceived as including some and excluding others. In this session, we will explore trends, investigate the link between work / life efforts and engagement / retention and learn how thinking styles and work / life efforts impact results.

Inclusion now stretches beyond the doors of our organizations. We are expected — by our employees, leaders, boards, customers / guests / patrons and the communities we serve — to be pro-active citizens in all aspects of our business. This session will explore the breadth and depth of Social Responsibility efforts and the impact of those efforts on individuals, organizations and the communities we seek to serve. As the final session of the year, we will also analyze how the predominant thinking style of an organization can and does influence the nature of Social Responsibility efforts and results.
